Synopsis- In Making Meaning: Reading Comprehension Strategies, Kourtney Davis equips teachers with practical, research-informed strategies to strengthen students’ reading comprehension across subjects. Participants explore scaffolds and techniques that help learners engage with complex texts, respond to text-dependent questions, and develop deeper understanding. Through hands-on demonstrations, Kourtney provides adaptable strategies that teachers can immediately implement, supporting all students—especially multilingual learners—in becoming confident, critical readers. Attendees practice using text-dependent questioning, scaffolds, and modeling techniques, and leave the session with at least one reading comprehension activity they can apply directly in their classrooms.
